Bud is all about making the customer’s life easy and our new PTK Molded knockout box is the perfect example. These NEMA/IP rated enclosures come with pre-molded knockouts to make field installation of equipment or modifications quickly and cost effectively.
Knockouts are useful in junction boxes and other electrical applications, although the PTK enclosure is also ideal for housing printed circuit boards.
While Bud is always happy to install holes or slots in our standard enclosures, in an industry leading 5 days, being able to use existing knockouts is the most rapid and cost-effective approach. These are not the typical flimsy knockouts that one finds in many competitive situations but rather strongly molded so that there is no risk of accidentally dislodging the covers.
Protection with Bud’s PTK Series Enclosures
Made of impact-resistance polycarbonate plastic reinforced with 10% glass fibers, the PTK series enclosures offer strength without the cost of fiberglass. Suitable for outdoor or indoor applications, the boxes meet IP67 and NEMA 1, 2, 4, 4x and 6 specifications. For more information about ratings, read our article, “NEMA ratings versus IP ratings.”
Bud’s PTK series is the perfect combination of protection and flexibility
In keeping with its role in outdoor locations, this series has non-metallic screws to attach the covers. The body of the enclosures are polycarbonate with 10% glass fibers for reinforcement, creating the strongest and most impact–resistant enclosure material. This is how the PTK series enclosures offer strength without the cost of fiberglass.
With an IP67 TUV rating and a UL508/NEMA 4x and 6 listing, they can operate in virtually any environment from factory floor to under periodic submersion.
The PTK Series NEMA and IP Ratings Explained
The secret to its high waterproof protection is its continuously poured foam gasket. The gasket allows for a secure, high-quality seal even with repeated opening of the cover. Available in 10 sizes from 4.33 x 3.15 x 2.76 to 6.89 x 4.92 x 3.94 with both opaque and clear lid options, there is a size in this series to meet you most demanding enclosure requirements.
The clear lid is an option in many of the offered sizes. A clear lid allows technicians to see inside the enclosure without opening the lid. This is useful for reading indicators and screens without opening the cover and potentially damaging the gaskets.
A clear cover also allows for visual inspection for condensation or moisture. While the enclosure is rated for a high level of water protection (submersible for short periods of time), openings made in the box could compromise the seal. Fortunately, Bud sells cable glands that can seal out moisture.
All of the PTK series enclosures are in stock today at your favorite Bud distributor and if you need more holes than the knockouts provide, Bud can add additional features as fast as 5 days. At Bud, we continue to lead the industry in offering the best NEMA/IP protection at the best prices.
