The industry’s best selection of handheld enclosures for electronics.
Find handheld plastic enclosures (we also call them “grabbers”) ideal for housing remote controls, game controllers, key fobs … any electronic enclosure made to be held while in operation. Select from hundreds of models, with and without battery compartments. Many styles are pocket-sized and many accept belt clip accessories.
Our enclosures enable electronic designs to achieve their operational objectives. For remote control applications, some models can be ordered with transparent infrared lenses. Some handheld enclosures come with included buttons, so you can concentrate on functionality rather than on the enclosure layout. Other enclosures leave the button layout up to the design engineer. Most have recessed areas suitable for keypads or labels. (Another option is digital printing right on the box.)
To make your job easy, the enclosures have standoffs and mounting bosses for convenient PCB mounting. And Bud supports you with a full selection of battery clips, battery holders, tilt stands, and other accessories. You can find the associated accessories on each product page below the product details.
What materials are used in handheld enclosures?
Our handheld enclosures are made of ABS plastic, which is strong, affordable, and offers good flammability ratings. Some enclosures come with components that are not ABS plastic, such as infrared lenses made of polycarbonate. The Grabber Style K is an ABS enclosure with an optional rubber boot for a sure grip and impact resistance.
ABS plastic is easy to machine. Our handheld plastic box enclosures are easily modified to accommodate your specific designs including cutouts for displays, indicator lamps, buttons, switches, and dials. Bud has the right equipment and experience to quickly modify enclosures to your specifications. Have us make your modifications at the factory for the highest quality and fastest turnaround.
What are the advantages to handheld enclosures?
Any enclosure intended for the hands must be lightweight and ergonomically designed. For example, our Grabber Style O plastic enclosure is shaped to fit comfortably in the hand and has rounded corners and ribbed sides.
Another advantage of handheld boxes is the option for batteries. Our Grabber Style J enclosure is an example of a box with a battery compartment. In some cases, the application may use a charging port instead of batteries, so we offer enclosures with and without battery compartments.
