Bud offers a broad line of IP65 rated enclosures in materials ranging from plastic to fabricated steel. Enclosures with the IP65 rating are suitable for outdoor use and for indoor applications where factory washdown may occur. (Plastic IP65 enclosures must be UV rated if used outdoors.) They are commonly used for enclosing industrial controls and housing electronics used in alternative energy, security/lighting, and agricultural equipment.
IP65 is a moderate level of ingress protection, providing strong protection against dust and moderate protection against water.
The International Electrotechnical Commission publishes a rating scale for ingress protection (IP rating). The first digit addresses particle protection; the second digit addresses water protection. In the case of IP65, the 6 means that the enclosure will experience no ingress of dust, and the 5 means moderate protection against low-pressure water jets. (A limited amount of water ingress is permitted.)
Corrosion resistance and UV protection are not covered by the standard.

When selecting an enclosure for an application, remember that, in most cases, a higher rated enclosure will work in an IP65 application. Bud has hundreds of models to choose from that are IP65 rated and above. In some cases, a higher rated enclosure may be just as affordable as an IP65 enclosure.
A wide variety of Bud’s enclosures meet or exceed the IP65 standard. Here are some examples that show the breadth of Bud’s IP65 offering.
The vast majority of our IP65 rated enclosures are covered by our 5-Day Modification Program, the fastest turnaround in the industry. Our robotic equipment rapidly makes holes and cutouts to your exact specifications. Other modifications include digital printing, custom colors, and pre-assembly. If a modified box doesn’t meet your requirements, we will be happy to quote a fully custom enclosure.
Preserve the protection power of your modified enclosure by using cable glands. Bud has a complete line. Other accessories include internal panels for some enclosures and IP rated vents that block water but let air pass through.
Protect your designs from harsh environments with an IP65-rated enclosure from Bud. Whether your concern is weather, factory washdowns, or airborne contaminants, you’ll find the perfect fit among our huge selection of enclosures.
